About

I am Danny Nicholls Principal of St Patrick’s School Taupo, New Zealand. Over the last 2/3 years I have tried to blog regularly as a self-reflection strategy. Through blogging I have developed a number of new networks and wider perspectives on education, as well as clarified and refined my own understandings of educational leadership. I highly recommend it to other principals – give it a go!

Prior to establishing this blog on wordpress I posted at http://dannynicholls.edublogs.org/ Those pages are still accessible for those interested in my formative steps into blogging.

Outside of my work life I am married with two primary age children, and enjoy football, reading, walking and movie watching. I am battling an obsessive-compulsive disorder in managing my Itunes directory and music collection but other than that would describe myself as a typical Kiwi bloke who is lucky enough to get paid to do the work he loves.

As stated earlier, this blog has developed as a self-reflection strategy, and whilst often my thoughts are grounded in the reality of my work as principal of St Patrick’s, nothing written here or in any post or post comment should be considered a public statement on behalf of my employing school. It is a tricky balance to get right and I trust that readers will give me the benefit of the doubt in reading my reflections – and not allow my honesty to get me into trouble!

Regards

Danny

    Dear Teacher:

I enjoy reading your blog, and was wondering if you would like to do a link exchange. My book blog’s url is educationanddeconstruction.com. Every week, I make a nonfiction book recommendation in the topic areas of education, history, technology, biography and/or humor. I have already put up your link. Please reply if you would like to do a link exchange. Thank you.
